WARM UP TO THE SEASON AT HAWS
Waukesha animal resource center presents puppy parties, doggie recess, JanBoree fun!
WAUKESHA — January 3, 2018 — HAWS[hawspets.org], the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County, welcomes 2018 with great ways for 2- and 4-legged family members to beat winter cabin fever.
Saturday A.M. Recess[hawspets.org]: Every Saturday, from January 6th through March 31st, bring your dog to Central Bark Doggy Day Care in Sussex, W227 N6193 Sussex Road, from 10am-noon for supervised playtime. Only $5/dog, proceeds benefit HAWS. No pre-registration necessary - call 262-246-8100 for more information.
Let the Games Begin! HAWS’ JanBoree party[janboree.org] is Saturday, January 27th from 11am-3pm, with activities for kids, games for dogs, a Scent Work demonstration, shelter tours, raffle prizes and more! While at the shelter you can also enjoy lunch, sponsored by the Friends of HAWS. Pets welcome - please bring your pet on a 6-8' leash or in a carrier for safety and comfort.
A cat-tastic success: From August thru December of 2017, 170 cats were housed in HAWS' new cozy cat colony setting for at least part of their time at the shelter! Cage-free and able to mingle with other cats and people (and pose for selfies), these fantastic felines are proving the stats to be true about less stress and quicker adoption times for colony-dwellers. Already on Tuesday HAWS adopted our first cat from the colony for 2018!
Save the dates for these upcoming Friends of HAWS[hawspets.org] events: Have-A-Heart Bake Sale & Café (2/10), Spay-ghetti Dinner (2/23), Media Sale (3/3), the 35th annual Romp ‘n Rally fundraiser (5/5).
Reminders for pet owners: Owners are required to purchase an updated license for their pet(s) in January[waukeshacounty.gov] – check each municipality for details. Keep pets safely indoors when the temperatures dip, other than for quick potty-breaks and very short walks. Clean salt off sensitive paw pads and check ears and paw pads for frostbite!

- Pedicures (cats - 1/13 & 23; small animals - 1/10 & 20)
